Ha ha, almost! A-ko is from the 80's! Just like me.

Same diff!!! Although to be fair, it is late 80's, and because they were OVAs (and ergo high-budget) they look more like a 90's anime in terms of stylins. (also, the last one is technically from 1990!)

But I realized that it was 80s, like, 10 seconds after I posted that. XD But I was too lazy to go back and fix it.

Maybe since you're doing classic anime, you should do Versailles no Bara or Terra E. (Hey, they made a new anime of that pretty recently!)

Or not.

I'm working on a Utena painting now, and then I have to do more Sailor Moon fanart before I explode. I can only diversify so much! I really just want to sit at home and make SM fanart everyday instead of going to work...

And you're right, I mean, A-ko was released in 1986... so we likely weren't watching it in the states until the early nineties... and then all the other A-Ko movies (which I have never seen- I want to see the second one but I have no desire to see the AU one ) must have come out later.

I guess I'm not doing classic work exclusively... I want to do a pic of Mikan and Hotaru from Gakuen Alice... I don't know if that will happen soon though...

Well, I was just throwing stuff out there. you're the painter, so you should draw whatever you like. ^^ Although, if you like Utena, you should draw a Versailles painting at least once in your life, lol! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's a great show, only a little dated after 35ish years.

I almost picked up Gakuen Alice, but I dunno...it didn't jump out at me. Maybe I should give it a shot.

Yes, def! I watched and read a fair bit of Rose of Versailles... I never get all the way through, though. I do think its beautiful and plan to draw them some day. I like the manga better than the anime, at least, so I should finish that up...

Gakuen Alice is prooooobably not for everyone... have you ever seen Kodomo no Omocha/Kodocha/Child's Toy? The main character is like Sana, but with magic powers. What I like is that she (Mikan) is obsessed with being with her best friend, Hotaru, forever and ever. I like strong female friendships (this is often a theme of my fanart, ha ha...) so that's the main reason I watch it. Also, she's uber optimistic and seeks to touch the heart of the angsty boy. Win! Its a little episodic (what shoujo anime isn't) but once it picks up, its really good!
